February 28, 2014  |

The Women’s Club at Youngstown State University will accept new and gently used seasonal women’s and men’s clothing, shoes, jewelry, purses and accessories 9:30 to 11:15 a.m. Friday, March 7, in Kilcawley Center Presidents’ Suite.

Donated items will be sold at the Penny Pinchers Nearly New Shop, a consignment store located at 6826 Market St., Youngstown. Proceeds from the sale of donated items will be used to support the Women’s Club scholarship fund at YSU.

Clothing should be clean and on hangers. Donations can also be dropped off directly at Penny Pinchers as Women’s Club donations.

The Women’s Club scholarships are awarded annually based on academic performance and financial need. More than $5,000 in scholarships is awarded each spring to undergraduate and graduate students. Applications for the 2014 scholarships have been accepted and recipients will be recognized on Friday, April 25 at the scholarship and installation ceremony.

Revenue from the sale of merchandise will also benefit the Silver Lining Cancer Fund, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping cancer patients in the Mahoning Valley Region. For more information, contact Tina Weintz at 330-941-7252.

The YSU Women’s Club supports scholarships for qualifying female students, identifies YSU community needs and designs programs to meet those needs, cultivates social relations, affords opportunity for intellectual improvement, and identifies such other activities as the organization may desire. Additional information regarding the club (i.e. membership, scholarship opportunities, etc.) may be found at http://www.ysu.edu/womensclub/.
