YSU Metro College offers Wine Appreciation class

Youngstown State University Metro College’s popular Wine Appreciation class is returning to Alberini’s restaurant in Niles.

In the class, students will taste different wines, learn about wine texture and discover the different ways to present wines. Students will learn how to identify affordable wines to pair with certain foods. The instructor is Chook Alberini.

The class meets 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Feb. 26 through March 16. The cost is $145. On the first night of the class, participants will pay an additional $40 fee to the restaurant to cover the cost of sampling various wines, cheeses and crackers. A second session of the course is scheduled for 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, July 23 to Aug. 13.

The Wine Appreciation course is among dozens of professional and personal development classes offered by YSU’s Metro College this year. Topics range from simple sewing, ballroom dancing and conversational Italian to real estate law, construction engineering and ISO 9001 auditing.
