Too Many Sopranos

Monday, Jan. 28, 8 p.m. The Dana School of Music at YSU presents a free faculty artist recital, “Too Many Sopranos – Women on the Verge” in Bliss Recital Hall. More here.

Wednesday, Jan. 30, 6:30 p.m. Prospective students and parents can learn the ins and outs of financial aid at YSU’s Financial Aid Night in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center on the YSU campus. Participants will learn the basics about applying for financial aid, meet YSU financial aid counselors and get direct assistance with online financial aid applications. In addition, free tax form preparation will be available through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. Wednesday, Jan. 30, 12:15 p.m. Flutes are featured at a free Music at Noon concert in the Butler Institute of American Art.

Wednesday, Jan. 30, 1 to 2 p.m. YSU faculty and staff are invited to meet with Arnold Speert, search consultant with AGB Search Inc., to talk about the desired traits for YSU’s next president. The meeting will be in the Board of Trustees meeting room on the first floor of Tod Hall. AGB is assisting the YSU Board of Trustees to identify the university’s next chief executive. A second session is scheduled for 10:45 to 11:45 am. Thursday, Jan. 31, in the Presidential Suite of Kilcawley Center at YSU. A forum for students will be held 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30 in the BoT meeting room in Tod Hall.

Wednesday, Jan. 30, 7:05 p.m. Valparaiso takes on the Penguins in a Horizon League men’s basketball matchup in Beeghly Center. More at YSU Sports.

Friday, Feb. 1, Noon. The YSU men’s tennis squad faces Toledo at the Boardman Tennis Center.

Friday, Feb. 1, 3 p.m. The YSU National Invitational Track and Field meet is at the WATTS. The meet resumes 8 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2.

Saturday, Feb. 2, noon to 6 p.m.  YSU’s celebration of African American History Month kicks-off with the African Marketplace in Kilcawley Center. Vendors from near and far present artistic creations, artifacts, books and jewelry. African culture will also be celebrated in music and dance, provided by the Harambee Youth Group of Youngstown. More here.

Saturday, Feb. 2, noon. YSU swim team takes on Bowling Green at the natatorium in Beeghly Center.

Saturday, Feb. 2, 4 p.m. The Hope Foundation of the Mahoning Valley presents the 9th Annual Game of Hope Charity Basketball Classic  in Beeghly Center at YSU. More here.
