Horn recital set for Monday

Stacie Mickens, assistant professor of Horn at Youngstown State University, and guest artist Adam Unsworth, associate professor of Horn at the University of Michigan, present a Duo Horn Recital at 8 p.m., Monday, Jan. 14, in Bliss Recital Hall on the YSU campus.

Pianist Diane Yazvac will assist in the recital that will include works by Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Clearfield, Nurock and Rosetti. The recital is free and open to the public. Parking is available for a nominal fee in the Wick Avenue deck.

Mickens joined the faculty of YSU’s Dana School of Music in fall 2012 after completing her doctorate at the University of Michigan. She previously taught at Luther College and Winona State University and is a member of the Akron and Youngstown symphonies. Unsworth is a former member of the Philadelphia Orchestra. He has appeared as a recitalist and clinician at many universities throughout the United States and has performed repeated solo and chamber concerts at Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall. He is the leader of his own jazz group, the Adam Unsworth Ensemble, which recorded the critically acclaimed CD, Excerpt This!
