YSU Homecoming 2012 festivities

Get ready for a packed week of activities this week as Youngstown State University prepares for Homecoming 2012, beginning Monday, Oct. 29 and concluding Saturday, Nov. 3, with the annual parade and football game.

Tailgating sponsored by the Student Government Association begins at 10 a.m. Saturday, with the parade at noon on Fifth Avenue and the game against the University of South Dakota at 2 p.m. in Stambaugh Stadium.

Among the dozens of events also included during Homecoming week are:

Monday, Oct. 29

  • Dunkin’ Donuts Munchkins eating contest. 5 to 7 a.m., Kilcawley Center/Upper Lobby.
  • Photo Booth, “Memory Strips.” 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Kilcawley Center/Campus Core.

Tuesday, Oct. 30

  • Build a Penguin. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Kilcawley Center/Campus Core.
  • Homecoming Cook-Out. 4 to 8 p.m., Newman Center.

Wednesday, Oct. 31

  • Caricature Artist and Airbrushed Tattoos. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Kilcawley Center/Lower Arcade.
  • 95.9 KISS-FM broadcast. 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Kilcawley Center/Campus Core.
  • Denny’s Burger Eating Contest. Noon, The Hub/ Kilcawley Center.

Thursday, Nov. 1

  • HOT-101 Live broadcast. 6 to 10 a.m., Kilcawley Center/Lower Arcade.
  • Quaker Steak Wing Eating Contest. Noon, Kilcawley Center/Stationary Table.

Friday, Nov. 2

  • AVI Hot Dog Eating Contest. 11:30 a.m., Kilcawley Center/Stationary Table.
  • Rock the Red – Penguin Pride Rally. 12:30 a.m., Kilcawley Center/Chestnut Room.
