YSU faculty and staff achievements

Jennifer Behney, assistant professor, Italian, Second Language Acquisition, presented “Examining form-meaning connections of L2 vocabulary within a fast priming paradigm” with a former co-worker, Junkyu Lee, at the Second Language Research Forum at Carnegie Mellon University.

Tysa Egleton, associate registrar, and Jonelle Beatrice, associate executive director of Student Life, presented “Early Alert Systems: Closing the Communication Loop for At-Risk Students” at the Ohio Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers.

Ruigang Wang, assistant professor, Chemistry, published a paper titled “Hydrothermal synthesis of rare-earth oxide nanocatalysts for automotive exhaust clean-up” in Advanced Materials Research. He also co-authored two other journal papers: “Nitrogen-doped graphene foams as metal-free counter electrodes in high-performance dye-sensitized solar cells” in the Angewandte Chemie International Edition and “Electron energy-loss spectroscopy investigation of dopant homogeneity in Tb-doped Y2O3 nanoparticles prepared by solution combustion synthesis” in the Optical Materials.

Paul Sracic, chair, Department of Political Science and Rigelhaupt Pre-Law Center, participated in a discussion about the 2012 congressional elections with Robert S. Erikson of the Department of Political Science at Columbia University on China Radio International in Beijing.

Helene J. Sinnreich, professor, History, presented a paper based on her recent research entitled “We ate like it was Yom Kippur: Access to Food in the Lodz Ghetto” at the Lessons and Legacies Conference at Northwestern University. Northwestern University and the Holocaust Educational Foundation sponsor the biannual conference. The proceedings are published by Northwestern University Press. Sinnreich was a summer fellow of the Holocaust Educational Foundation at Northwestern during summer 2010.

William Greenway, professor, English, published the poem “The Boredom of the Heart” in I-70 Review 6 (Summer 2012). His poems “Post-Party Depression” and “The Chilly Unknown” have been published in Rubbertop 2 (2012). And his poem “Allhallows” has been published in The Southern Review 48.4 (Autumn 2012).
