Monday, April 8, 8 p.m. The YSU Jazz Studies Program presents a concert by Jazz Ensemble 1 in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center. More here.

Tuesday, April 9.  A guest artist recital and master class featuring Russian guitarist Vladimir Gorbach. The master class is 9 a.m. in Bliss Hall Room 2222, and the recital is at 8 p.m. in Bliss Recital Hall. More here.

Tuesday, April 9, 12:30 p.m.  Jason Martin lectures in the McDonough Museum of Art as part of the YSU Department of Art’s and the Beecher Center for Art and Technology’s free lecture and workshop series. More here.

Tuesday, April 9, 3 p.m. YSU baseball team hosts Pittsburgh at Eastwood Field in Niles. The squad hosts a three-game series vs. Valparaiso 3 p.m. Friday, April 12; 1 p.m. Saturday, April 13; and 1 p.m. Sunday, April 14.

Tuesday, April 9, 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., and Wednesday, April 10, 3 p.m. The YSU softball team hosts Detroit at McCune Park. The team hosts a three-game series vs. Cleveland State at 1 and 3 p.m. Saturday, April 13; and noon Sunday, April 14.

Wednesday, April 10, 10:30 a.m. The YSU Foundation hosts a news conference to unveil its 2013-2018 Strategic Plan in the atrium of Williamson Hall on the YSU campus.

Wednesday, April 10, 12:15 p.m. The Dana School of Music’s String Department presents a free Music at Noon concert in the Butler Institute of American Art.

Wednesday, April 10, 5:30 p.m. Hrafnhildur Arnardottir (aka “Shoppy”) lectures in the McDonough Museum of Art as part of the YSU Department of Art’s and the Beecher Center for Art and Technology’s free lecture and workshop series. More here.

Thursday, April 11. The research of YSU biology students and a lecture by a noted dentist missionary are featured at YSU’s seventh annual Biology Day in Ward Beecher Hall. More here.

Thursday, April 11, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sonia Kovalevsky Day, a day for high school girls interested in math and other STEM disciplines. More here.

Thursday, April 11, 6 p.m. Donna DeBlasio and Martha Pallante, professors in the YSU Department of History, preset “Effects of the Iron and Steel Industry on Youngstown” in the Youngstown Museum of Labor and Industry on Wood Street. The lecture is part of the YSU Spring 2013 Alumni Lecture Series. More here.

The YSU Presidential Search Advisory Committee meets at the Hyatt Regency Pittsburgh International Airport to interview eight candidates for the position. Friday, April 12, noon. A master class conducted by veteran guitarist Joe Negri in Room 2222, Bliss Hall, includes performances by several Dana guitar students and duos. More here.

Friday, April 12, 4:30 p.m. The Edward W. Powers Women in Science and Engineering Lecture will be in the Ohio Room in Kilcawley Center on the YSU campus, featuring Katie Glass, a mechanical engineer working as a senior scientist at Procter & Gamble in Family Care Research and Development, supporting the Charmin and Puffs brands. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, April 12, 13 and 14. University Theater presents Albert Innaurato’s dramatic comedy Gemini in Spotlight Arena Theater in Bliss Hall. Friday and Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m., while the Sunday matinee performance is at 3 p.m. More here.

Saturday, April 13, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Three hundred of the region’s best and brightest college students will participate in the Northeast Ohio Choose Ohio First Scholarship Program Research Conference in Beeghly Center on the YSU campus. More here.

Saturday, April 13, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The 16th annual Women in Science and Engineering Career Day will be in YSU’s Kilcawley Center. More here.

Saturday, April 13, 6pm. YSU’s Greek Sing, a campus tradition for 61 years, will be in Stambaugh Auditorium. Admission is free.
