Check out what's happening this week at Youngstown State University.Monday, April 29, 11 a.m. The area’s best high school journalists will be recognized at the annual YSU Press Day’s awards ceremony in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center on the YSU campus. More than 250 area high school students will participate in the daylong event.

Monday, April 29, 6 to 9 p.m. YSU’s 2013 Student Diversity Recognition and Cinco de Mayo celebration will be in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center. More here.

Monday, April 29, 8 p.m. The YSU Wind Ensemble and Dana Chamber Winds close the 2012-13 performance season with a special concert, “Abundant Air” in Stambaugh Auditorium. More here.

Tuesday, April 30, 9 a.m. YSU President Cynthia E. Anderson presents her final State of the University address in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center on the YSU campus. Anderson retires June 30.

Tuesday, April 30. Cyril Wecht, a noted forensic pathologist who has been a consultant in high-profile cases ranging from Elvis Presley to John F. Kennedy, speaks in Beeghly Center as part of the YSU Alumni Lecture Series. The lecture begins at 6:30 p.m., with networking starting at 5:30 p.m. More here.

Wednesday, May 1, 12:15 p.m. The Dana School of Music performs a free Music at Noon concert in the Butler Institute of American Art.

Wednesday, May 1, 3 p.m. YSU baseball plays Kent State at Eastwood Field in Niles. The team then plays a three-game series against Wright State at Eastwood 11 a.m. Friday, May 3; 1 p.m. Saturday, May 4; and 1 p.m. Sunday, May 5.

Wednesday, May 1, 3 and 5 p.m. YSU softball takes on St. Bonaventure in a doubleheader at McCune Park.

Wednesday, May 1, 5:30 p.m., and Friday, May 3, noon. The YSU Board of Trustees’ Executive Committee meets for interviews with presidential candidates. The Wednesday meetings is in the DeBartolo Board Room, Holiday Inn, Boardman, Ohio, and the Friday meeting is in Bresnahan I & II, Kilcawley Center, YSU.

Thursday, May 2, 3:30 p.m. Open Forum with the University Community with Randy Dunn, one of the three finalists for the position of YSU president, in the Board of Trustees Meeting Room on the first floor of Tod Hall.

Thursday, May 2, 8 p.m. WYSU 88.5 is hosting a special live showing of the popular NPR news quiz show “Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me!” at Tinseltown in Boardman. More here.

Friday, May 3, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Eight YSU students will receive scholarships at the YSU Women’s Club 2013 Scholarship Luncheon in the Presidential Suites of Kilcawley Center on the YSU campus. More here.

Friday, May 3, 6:30 p.m. The 32nd annual Faculty and Staff Awards Dinner will be held in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center. Leslie Domonkos and the late Saul Friedman will receive the YSU Heritage Award. More here.
