WYSU shoots for $115,000 with fund drive this week

October 11, 2013  |

WYSU logo vert color 2007-1288.5 WYSU FM, Youngstown State University’s public radio station, holds its annual fall fund drive Tuesday, Oct. 15 through Friday, Oct. 18 with a goal of $115,000.

For the sixth drive in a row, the on-air portion of the campaign will be just 72 hours long.

Donors who pledge support to WYSU (either as a new member, a renewing member, or with an additional gift) between now and the end of the fall fund drive will be entered into a drawing to win a pair of tickets for the May 2014 WYSU-sponsored Go Ahead Tours 10-day excursion to Paris, Provence and the French Riviera.

Throughout the drive, the station will also be offering Daily Prize Packages, a New Member Prize Package, a Pennsylvania Member Prize Package, and an Early Bird Prize Package open to all members who pledge before the start of the on-air portion of the drive.

Thanks to generous support from IDMI.net, all web pledges made to 88.5 WYSU FM this fall (through a secure on-line server at www.wysu.org) will qualify for a partial match.

“The keystone is the crown of an arch that locks all the other pieces together,” said station director Gary Sexton. “Membership is the keystone in the funding formula for a public radio station.  All the other sources depend upon it. So, for yourself, and for all the good of all the other pieces in WYSU’s funding arch, please stay with us… or join us for the first time.”

Contributions to the station’s Fall Fund Drive can be made by phone at 330-941-1481, or at www.wysu.org.
