Monday, Sept. 24, 8 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. YSU hosts the annual Press Day in Kilcawley Center, attended by dozens of journalists from throughout the region. Sessions included a staged news event, broadcast journalism, finding good story ideas, copy editing, editorial writing, photography and newspaper design.
Tuesday, Sept. 25, 7 p.m. YSU women’s soccer plays Cedarville in Stambaugh Stadium. Milwaukee then takes on the Penguins in Stambaugh Saturday, Sept. 29, noon.
Wednesday, Sept. 26, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The YSU Fall 2012 Job Expo will be in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center. For more information, call the YSU Office of Career Services at 330-941-3515.

Wednesday, Sept. 26, 6 to 8 p.m. As part of YSU’s Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration, an “Educators and Community Helping Hispanics Onward College Fair” will be held at the Boardman High School cafeteria The fair will also be Thursday, Sept. 27, 9 to 11 a.m., at OCCHA, 3660 Shirley Road, Youngstown. The fair is geared to Hispanic/Latino high school students and their parents. Co-sponsored by YSU’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions, OCCHA, and ECHHO. Thursday, Sept. 27, 4 p.m. Eric Mazur, Balkanski Professor of Physics and Applied Physics at Harvard University, presents “The Scientific Approach to Teaching: Research as a Basis for Course Design” in Ward Beecher Planetarium. Presented by the YSU Department of Physics and Astronomy.
Thursday, Sept. 27, 7 p.m. Award-winning author Renée E. D’Aoust will read from her new book, Body of A Dancer, in the McDonough Museum of Art on the campus of YSU.
Thursday, Sept. 27, 10 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. The Vindicator and the Ohio Newspapers Foundation sponsors “A Journalists Guide to Drilling” in Williamson Hall on the YSU campus. The workshop for professional journalists will explain the key issues surrounding natural gas drilling and features presentations by Jeff Dick, YSU chair and professor of geological and environmental sciences, and Mike Costarell, YSU associate professor of mechanical engineering technology. Thursday, Sept. 27, noon to 1 p.m. As part of YSU’s Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration, Ward Beecher Planetarium Lecturer Sharon Shanks presents a special showing of “Sky Watchers of Ancient Mexico.” The program describes the different ways in which the ancient cultures of the Aztec, Maya, Toltec, and Olmec incorporated the sky into their religion, stories and daily rituals.
