Stiletto Brass Quintet in concert Nov. 4

The Stiletto Brass Quintet, an all-female brass group, performs a free concert at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4, in Bliss Recital Hall on the campus of Youngstown State University.

Stiletto Brass QuintetThe recital, sponsored by YSU’s Dana School of Music, is open to the public. Patrons may park in the Wick Avenue deck for a nominal fee.

Stiletto Brass Quintet’s members include Amy Gilreath, trumpet; Cathy Leach, trumpet; Kelly Langenberg, horn; Nicole Abissi, trombone; and Velvet Brown, tuba. The women’s careers span the fields of orchestral, wind band and brass chamber music performances in such groups as Dallas Brass, PRISMA, Monarch Brass Quintet and Ensemble, the “President’s Own” United States Marine Band, Detroit Symphony, Atlanta Symphony, St. Louis Symphony, and the Long Beach Symphony orchestras. They have performed in England, Italy, Germany, France, Russia, Japan, Canada and across the United States.

The quintet, formed in 2010, will perform classic and contemporary selections including pieces by Giovanni Martini, Duke Ellington and Thelonius Monk.
