“Another Day, Another Dream,” an exhibit featuring the work of Pulitzer Prize winning photographer Jose Galvez, opens at the Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor at 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19.

For more than 40 years, Galvez has been documenting the lives of Latinos in the United States. He had a distinguished career in photojournalism, being the first Mexican-American photographer on the staff of the Los Angeles Times.  Today, Galvez tours the country with his photographs, which have been exhibited everywhere from the Smithsonian to schools, libraries and other venues.

“Another Day, Another Dream” features his recent photographs of Latinos at work.  “The people go to work every day, dreaming for the future, hoping for the best,” he said.

The Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor, also known as the Steel Museum, is located at 151 W. Wood Street in Youngstown. The opening, which will feature a talk by Galvez, is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided by the Hispanic Heritage Planning Committee through the Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs at Youngstown State University.
