Organizations meet at YSU for Wean Nonprofit Summit
Representatives from more than 325 nonprofit organizations from in and around the Mahoning Valley will come together at the Raymond John Wean Foundation’s Seventh Annual Nonprofit Summit on Thursday, Sept. 19, in Kilcawley Center on the campus of Youngstown State University.
The summit, which runs from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., is titled “Change: Accepting the Challenge,” and will have presentations, panel discussions and workshops by leaders of the nonprofit sector on topics ranging from social media, fundraising and financial policies to the volunteer’s bill of rights and emotional intelligence.
The keynote speaker is Ruth McCambridge, editor in chief of the Nonprofit Quarterly. NPQ tracks and provides analyses of important trends in the nonprofit sector and philanthropy, monitors public policy relative to nonprofits and provides well-tested but cutting edge information on nonprofit management both online and in its print journal. The journal has been called the Harvard Business Review of the nonprofit sector. Before taking the Nonprofit Quarterly national in 1999, McCambridge worked for 20 years in community-based organizations which combined service delivery on a self-help model with social change. She also spent 10 years at the Boston Foundation providing capacity building resources to nonprofits from a pool established by local public and private funding sources.
