Mad About the Arts benefits McDonough, SMARTS

The annual Mad About the Arts benefit is Friday, Feb. 22, at the McDonough Museum of Art on the campus of Youngstown State University.

The event, underwritten by the Charles and Alice Schmutz Charitable Foundation with legacy sponsor Albert and Suzanne Cinelli, benefits the museum and YSU SMARTS–Students Motivated by the Arts.

Friend of the Arts Preview reception starts at 6:30 pm, followed by the main celebration at 7:30 p.m. The reception cost is $80, while the cost of the main event is $50.

Mad About the Arts, now in its 17th year, has become a leading cultural event in the

Youngstown area and region. On Friday, February 22, 2013, guests will enjoy an evening of music, art, food and spirits at the beautiful John J. McDonough Museum of Art on the campus of Youngstown State University.

The Preview Reception features local artist Alexis Antes, gourmet appetizers by the Lemon Grove Café, sparkling wines from Chalet Premier and a keepsake MAD wine glass (limited supply). The main event features music by Second Avenue Project, a group that includes graduates from the YSU’s Dana School of Music. A selection of hors d’oeuvres, wines and microbrews will be available provided by Cassese’s MVR, Café Cimmento Italian Food & Wines, Chalet Premier, Enjoy Youngstown, Giannios Candy, Kravitz Delicatessen and Katering, the Lemon Grove Café, Markko Vineyard, Mastropietro Winery, The Mocha House, O’Donold’s Irish Pub & Grill, Thirsty Dog Brewing Company and Yolo Grille & Wine Bar.

Promotional assistance is provided by 27 WKBN/FoxYoungstown/33WYTV/MyYTV, WYSU 88.5 FM, Ad Dimension, City Printing, The Metro Monthly and Mix 98.9 & 570 WKBN. Flowers from Edward’s Florist will enhance the evening’s atmosphere.

On display during this event will be the 2013 MAPC Juried Members Exhibition.
