Keep informed about campus weather closings

SnowLast week’s blast of snow was a harsh reminder that nasty weather is on its way, so it’s a good time to keep in mind the university’s cancellation and closing procedures.

“We do our best to keep the university open, even in the face of difficult weather,” said Gene Grilli, vice president for Finance and Administration. “But, as we all know, there are times when Mother Nature forces our hand, and then we must do what is in the best interest of the safety of students, employees and visitors to campus.”

For details, visit http://web.ysu.edu/marketcomm/ and click on “Cancellation and Closing Procedures” under “Quick Links.”

In the event of severe weather, YSU has several tools to communicate a disruption of the university’s schedule, including the Emergency Information Line (330-941-2222), the YSU homepage (www.ysu.edu), the MyYSU portal, and WYSU-FM 88.5, as well as other local news media outlets.

In addition, employees and students will be informed via text messages and/or email through the YSU Alert system. All employees and students are encouraged to sign up for the service. Visit http://alert.ysu.edu/.
