Lecture on journalists and working class set for Tuesday

George Packer, staff writer for The New Yorker, presents a free lecture titled “Do Journalists Care About the Working Class?” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, in the Ohio Room of Kilcawley Center on the campus of Youngstown State University.

The lecture is part of the YSU Center for Working Class Studies Lecture Series and is co-sponsored by the YSU Journalism Program.

In addition, Packer will meet with area journalists at the Center in Smith Hall at YSU at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 17.

Packer is currently working on a book about American decline and renewal, focusing on the stories of a few individuals in key communities around the country. He is currently on leave from The New Yorker and is a visiting scholar at the Center.
