Former YSU president visits campus to promote novel
Cochran, president of YSU from 1992 to 2000, will make a variety of appearances during a seven-day promotional tour in the Youngstown area the week of Nov. 17. Among the campus events will be a book signing at the YSU Bookstore from noon to 2 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 21, and a faculty and staff gathering at 4 p.m. the same day in the Bresnahan Suites in Kilcawley Center.
The former president also will meet with current students and alumni of the Leslie H. Cochran University Scholars program at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 20, in Cafaro House residence hall on campus. The University Scholars program, founded while Cochran was president of YSU, provides 40 full tuition, room and board scholarships annually to top academic students throughout the region.

Cochran came to YSU after a dozen years as the provost at Southeast Missouri State University. He previously was professor, dean and vice provost at Central Michigan University, an instructor at Wayne State University and a teacher in the Detroit Public Schools. Cochran and his wife, Lin, have lived in San Carlos Park, Fla., since 2004.
