Army Field Band performs at Powers

Youngstown State University’s Dana School of Music is among the sponsors of a free concert 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13 featuring the internationally-acclaimed United States Army Field Band of Washington, DC.

The performance, also sponsored by The Vindicator and Vindy.com and the Youngstown Symphony, will be at the Edward W. Powers Auditorium at the DeYor Performing Arts Center in downtown Youngstown.

As the premier touring musical representative for the U.S. Army, the Field Band travels thousands of miles each year throughout the world. Since its formation in 1946, the Field Band has appeared in all 50 states and in more than 30 countries on four continents. Along with the Soldiers’ Chorus, which was founded in 1957, the 65-member band presents a program of marches, overtures, popular music, patriotic selections and instrumental and vocal solos.

The following students in the Dana School of Music will also participate in both vocal and instrumental capacities: Mark Higgins, alto saxophone of Pittsburgh; Eric Bable, euphonium of Columbiana, Ohio; Ryan Ham, tenor trombone of Salem, Ill.; Adam Zagotti, French horn of Salem, Ohio; Ginny Ulbricht, trumpet of Leavittsburg, Ohio; Rachael Swanson, oboe of Greenville, Pa.; Matthew Ohlin, clarinet of New Middletown, Ohio; Stephen Orlando, tuba of Girard, Ohio; Lauren Corcoran (vocals) of Moon, Pa.; Allyson Pollice (vocals) of Boardman, Ohio; Katelyn DeLadurantey (vocals) of Boardman, Ohio; Victor Cardamone (vocals) of Apollo, Pa.; Anthony Ventura (vocals) of Shenango, Pa.; Kiyan Taghaboni (vocals) of Boardman, Ohio; Chris Anderson (vocals) of Lancaster, Ohio; and Anthony Humphrey (vocals) of New Castle, Pa. Soloist Lauren Corcoran will perform the National Anthem. The University’s ROTC Color Guard will present the colors prior to the concert.
