62nd annual Greek Sing April 12 in Stambaugh Auditorium
Greek Sing, the annual song-and-dance event featuring Youngstown State University fraternity and sorority students, is 6 p.m. Saturday, April 12, in Stambaugh Auditorium on Fifth Avenue just north of campus.
The event is open to the public, and admission is free.
The 62nd annual competition is the culmination of all YSU Greek activities for the academic year and will include nine group performances and five open class performances. This year’s theme is “A Year in Music.” Each fraternity/sorority has selected a year and will perform singles released in that year.
The event, which began in 1952, will also feature last year’s defending champs, Alpha Phi Delta Fraternity, singing a medley of selections from 1964, while last year’s sorority champions, Zeta Tau Alpha, will feature songs from 2005. Other chapters participating this year include fraternities Sigma Alpha Epsilon performing songs from 1987, Sigma Chi with singles from 1977, songs from 2000 by Sigma Tau Gamma and Tau Kappa Epsilon with selections from 1997. Additionally, sorority performances will include Alpha Omicron Pi singing to the hits of 2013, Alpha Xi Delta with selections from 1978 and songs from 1992 performed by Delta Zeta.
The event is sponsored by YSU Greek Life, Coca-Cola Bottling and YSU Student Government. For more information, contact Carrie Anderson at 330-941-3575.
